Liderazgo a la Japonesa
Una de las conferencias más exitosas de la pasada Semana Nacional PyME 2012 fue la de Carlos Kasuga. Mexicano de nacimiento, este hijo de inmigrantes japoneses es el director general de Yakult, empresa que ha llevado por un camino de éxito que no ha sido sencillo. En el evento, compartió con su particular estilo las diferencias que él ve entre la cultura mexicana y la japonesa, así como su punto de vista sobre los temas que los empresarios de nuestro país podrían trabajar para ser mejores.
Uno de los tópicos recurrentes del Sr. Kasuga es que los niños japoneses reciben una sólida “educación formativa”, lo que no ocurre con nosotros los mexicanos. El ejecutivo explica que este aspecto es el que ayuda a construir los valores fundamentales para el ser humano, como la puntualidad, la limpieza, la honestidad o el amor por el trabajo. Relató cómo en el Liceo Japones son los niños quienes limpian la escuela, y lo hacen como parte de sus responsabilidades, mientras que en nuestras escuelas las tareas de limpieza se asignan a los niños como un castigo; un gran tema para reflexionar.
Comentó también, y esta quizá fue la constante más palpable de Semana Nacional PyME 2012, que la visualización positiva es fundamental en la creación de liderazgo. Con ejemplos muy sencillos explicó cómo una frase positiva puede influir en cambios sorprendentes en la gente, mientras las frases negativas provocan que los mexicanos no seamos capaces de visualizarnos como empresarios o empleados exitosos. De hecho, recomendó dedicar un par de palabras de aliento al equipo de trabajo cada día para notar cómo la actitud de ellos puede modificarse radicalmente.
Kasuga comparó el crecimiento de una empresa con el de un hijo: los primeros años de su vida, los padres se dedican a trabajar y darle todo su amor, tiempo y capital; en los años de niñez y adolescencia, el esfuerzo se dedica a educarlos y después de los 20 años es cuando se pueden ver resultados palpables de todo este proceso. Lo mismo ocurre con las empresas; en sus palabras, los empresarios japoneses comienzan a explotar las ganancias de las empresas hasta después de sus 20 años, y en ese tiempo se dedican sólo a trabajar, vivir de forma modesta y ahorrar.
Dio otras recomendaciones a los empresarios, como actuar siempre con el ejemplo: exigir puntualidad pero ser el primero en llegar y el último en irse de la empresa; tratar a los colaboradores como iguales, es decir, no tener una oficina de mucho lujo mientras los empleados tienen salarios mínimos; y aplicar la regla del 7 al 1, que significa que por cada 7 pesos que el empresario gana, el empleado debería ganar 1, lo que también implica trabajar muy duro para que el esquema resulte.
“Estén orgullosos de ser empresarios que dan y crean fuentes de trabajo. Estén orgullosos de poder trabajar en este, nuestro querido México… Les pido a todos ustedes que siempre anden por el mundo con la frente en alto y el pecho erguido por haber nacido en esta bendita tierra mexicana”, concluyó.
