Si el objetivo es aumentar la productividad de tu empresa, mejorar la gestión de los riesgos desarrollar relaciones más sólidas, reducir costos operativos y obtener una ventaja competitiva, entonces el tema de responsabilidad social es para tu compañía y estás más cerca de alcanzarla de lo que imaginas.
Hoy está disponible en nuestro país la Norma ISO 26000 a través del Instituto Mexicano de Normalización y Certificación, A.C. (IMNC), que ResponSable, dedicada a divulgar la Responsabilidad Social en las esferas institucionales, económicas, sociales y educativas del país, está promoviendo.
Esta norma internacional promueve un entendimiento común en el campo de la responsabilidad social y ayuda a las organizaciones a incorporar la Responsabilidad Social como un principio de buena gestión.
ResponSable explica que la misma fue lanzada a nivel internacional en noviembre de 2010, aunque fue hasta junio de 2012 que la Secretaria de Economía, a través de la Dirección General de Normas (DGN) lanzó, en el Diario Oficial de la Federación, la Declaratoria de Vigencia de la “Guía de Responsabilidad Social”, con la clave NMX-SAST-26000-IMNC-2011.
Cabe señalar que esta norma no es certificable por no contener ningún requisito, sin embargo es una guía que agrupa alrededor de 850 recomendaciones y que además de promover una terminología común, recomienda a las organizaciones adoptar siete principios:
1. Rendición de cuentas
2. Transparencia
3. Comportamiento ético
4. Respeto de los intereses de las partes interesadas
5. Respeto al principio de legalidad
6. Respeto a la normativa internacional de comportamiento
7. Respeto a los derechos humanos.
Cuando una empresa adopta estos principios reconoce la importancia de la responsabilidad social y decide usarla en su toma de decisiones, no sólo en la organización sino en toda su esfera de influencia. “Cada organización debería identificar sus partes interesadas, es decir las personas y organizaciones que se ven o podrían verse afectadas por las decisiones y actividades de la organización, con el fin de cuidar sus impactos reales y potenciales en ellas así como atender sus necesidades y expectativas”, señaló Gwenaëlle Gerard, directora general de ResponSable.
Para aplicar la ISO 26000 se propone su integración en siete materias fundamentales en las prácticas de la organización: Gobernanza, Derechos Humanos, Prácticas Laborales, Medio Ambiente, Asuntos de Consumidores, Prácticas Justas de Operación y Participación Activa, así como Desarrollo de la Comunidad.
Cuando la organización se compromete con el tema y define una estrategia puede auto-declararse en el cumplimiento de la norma ISO 26000, aunque u declaración debe estar sustentada con indicadores de gestión.
“Al lograr difundir la ISO 26000 se alcanzará un mejor entendimiento de lo que es la Responsabilidad Social y una mejor adopción de prácticas en la materia, como herramienta de competitividad”, afirmó Gerard.
Cabe destacar que la Red Puentes Internacional, eligió a México como país piloto para desarrollar e implementar su herramienta de diagnóstico en ISO 26000. Después de haber apoyado en el desarrollo de esta herramienta, ResponSable ha puesto en marcha su aplicación para las empresas interesadas en evaluar sus prácticas, dichas organizaciones podrán compartir sus experiencias y beneficios de empezar a trabajar con la ISO 26000 y ser líderes en el mercado así como ser punta de lanza de su difusión en México.
